ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Alan Brooks was born in central Florida in 1940 into a Florida pioneer family. The Brooks families settled in Central Florida around 1815 and were sustenance farmers for at least 150 years. They lived on the land and from the land. The family raised animals, grew vegetables to eat, cleared the land for cultivation, developed a reputation for hard work and self-sufficiency, and sustained their families with little help from anyone, including the government. They supplemented the domestic animal meat by extensive hunting and fishing activities.

After high school, Alan went to college, and upon graduation, he joined IBM. After a decade, he left IBM and became the part owner of a start-up apparel manufacturing company. He eventually sold his interest in the apparel business and started a computer software company specializing in supply chain management. Alan later sold the software business to a public company, and he stayed with them for fifteen years before retiring. He has a wife, Nancy, two children, and four grandchildren with whom he has written four adventure books.
